Tape & Reel Packaging

Carrier reel packaging is a type of packaged assembly used in SMT surface mount production lines and for the automated assembly, transportation, and storage of precision metal components in consumer electronics. It primarily consists of a blue plastic disc (reel/spool) as the carrier, on which a black carrier tape with continuous grooves (cavities) is wound. Precision metal components or small electronic components, such as miniature screws, nuts, springs, and pins, are neatly arranged within the grooves. Transparent tape covers the carrier tape to seal the components, preventing them from falling or becoming contaminated. This packaging is specifically designed for automated production, enabling high-speed, precise, and automated assembly with pick-and-place machines, significantly improving assembly efficiency. It also provides physical protection for precision metal components, preventing bumps, oxidation, or thread damage during transportation and production. The width of the carrier tape (typically 8mm, 12mm, 16mm, etc.), spacing, and groove dimensions all adhere to industry standards to ensure compatibility between different devices. It is commonly used in the packaging of precision components in consumer electronics products such as mobile phones, laptops, and smartwatches.
